The Beat The GOAT Challenge is a physical and mental challenge against other runners from our community. The goal is to get you out running during the toughest time of year to train and have some fun along the way.
I know what you’re thinking, ugh, not another virtual event, that’s boring. Wrongggg! Our virtual challenge is different and guaranteed to make those long and colder miles fun. What makes us stand out are the weekly giveaways that you could win. We are going to have scavenger hunts, trivia questions, physical challenges and plenty of other fun competitions along the way while you’re out running or walking some miles.
Our active social media presence will engage and hold you accountable. The giveaways are awesome. Unleash the competitor inside and see if you have what it takes to Beat The GOAT each week. Can you think of a more fun way to train for this years Mountain Goat 10 Mile Run?
How to play our Beat The GOAT Challenge
Step 1: Register for the Beat The GOAT Challenge on Runsignup. Make sure you follow our Facebook page after you do.
This will be the easiest way to stay up to date on all the challenges, share advice, post photos and get close and personal with other runners in the community. Weekly emails will go out to challenge participants as well, for those who wish to stay off this social media platform.
Step 2: Challenge Participation (Begins 1/1/23- 4/2/23)
Each week (probably Sunday) we will introduce a challenge within our running and walking challenge, and it will be posted on Facebook or email blasted out to every member. We encourage you all to participate in these challenges and submit evidence of this. These challenges are meant to be fun, creative, sometimes challenging and obviously include running. The winner of that challenge will be dubbed “The GOAT” of the week.
Step 3: Go out and run or walk. Log those miles, daily or weekly, on our Runsignup leaderboard. We encourage all participants to hit the bare minimum of miles listed in the challenge for the week, but also feel free to run further!
Follow the progress of you and your peers throughout the winter. Tracking your mileage is super easy.
Login to RunSignup. We recommend letting it remember your username/password as you'll be here often!
Navigate to the Leaderboard page. We recommend bookmarking this page so you can find it quickly every day.
Click "Submit Virtual Results"
You will be shown a calendar, select the current day or the day for which you are entering the miles.
A second box says, "Distance in Miles", add the mileage you ran that day.
Click "Submit your time"
Step 4: How Do You Win Our Awesome Giveaways?
“The GOAT” of each challenge will be spotlighted on our Facebook page and email blasts. They also earn a cool prize automatically. Other random giveaways will be issued throughout the challenge as well.
Still confused on how this works? Here is an example below. This will be the first challenge of the year!
Weekly Challenge: 1/1/23 – 1/7/23
1.) Run at least 10 Miles outside this week
2.) 50 body weight Squats this week
3.) Create a post run drink concoction?
A. Post a photo of the final product
B. Post the ingredients
C. Name the drink!
To be dubbed “the GOAT”, the winner must complete all 3 items on the list and share by email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or social media.
