Runner Protection Program Announcement
1. All runners who register BEFORE July 1, 2026 can receive a 100% refund* on their race registration if they decide to cancel before February 14, 2027. *
2. All runners who register BETWEEN July 1, 2026 and January 2, 2027 can receive a 50% refund* on their race registration if they decide to cancel before our February 14, 2027 deadline. *
3. All runners who register BETWEEN January 3, 2027 and February 13, 2027 can receive a 30% refund* on their race registration if they decide to cancel before our February 14, 2027 deadline. *
4. No Questions Asked!
We want our participants to register at the lowest prices available AND have the peace of mind that they can back out while getting a full/fair refund. It also allows us to plan and purchase accordingly as we approach race weekend.
5. There will be no refunds allowed after 2/14/27!
Deferrals and event transfers will still be allowed until 4/18/27.
You will always have the option to switch to the Virtual 10 Mile at no extra cost! Deadline is 4/18, then a $15 cost incurs

Deferral Policy
We’ll miss you but hope to see you back next year!
All deferrals must be made online. Online requests will be accepted from 7/1/2026 through 4/18/2027.
The fee to defer is $15.00. This allows you to defer until our 2028 event and not incur a cost when registering.
Deferred runners will receive an email with instructions on how to register when the Spring of 2028 event opens registration. Runners will have ONLY 3 months to register using their unique deferral code.
To request a deferral go to Runsignup and click on “sign in.” Once you are logged in to your account, click on “PROFILE,” scroll down to “My Registered Races,” and click on “My Registered Races.” Select “View/Edit Registration” and click on the “Defer Registration” tab.
Remember you can always switch to the Virtual 10 Mile at no extra cost! Deadline is 4/18, then a $15 cost incurs.
Registration begins for deferred and open entrants on 7/1/26. Those who deferred from the 2026 event will have until 2/14/27 to register with your reserved entry link that has been emailed to you. After that you will no-longer be eligible for deferred status and must pay to enter the 2027 edition.
Event and Participant Transfer Policy
Event transfer requests will be accepted online only from 7/1/2026 through 4/18/2027 at a cost of $15. This is for anyone looking to switch from the 10 Mile race into the relay or vice versa.
The Transfer Event option can be found by logging on to RunSignup, navigating to Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration > Transfer Event.
On the Transfer Event page, you will be shown your Transfer Information. Please confirm the information is correct and accurate. You can confirm Transfer by clicking on the "Start Transfer" button.
Next, you will be shown the standard registration process where you can select the new event for this Transfer. Once payment is confirmed, you will receive a confirmation email for the new event.

Participant transfer refund requests will be accepted online only from 7/1/2026 through 4/18/2027 at a cost of $15.
Transferees must register by 4/18/2027.
To request a transfer to another runner go to Runsignup and click on “sign in.” Once you are logged in to your account, click on “PROFILE,” scroll down to “My Registered Races,” and click on “My Registered Races.” Select “Manage Registration” and click on the “Transfer To Someone Else” tab.
At that point, you must enter the other runner’s information (first name, last name, & email address) and click the orange transfer button.
When you gift a registration, you will NOT pay a fee and the recipient will be able to register for free. You will not receive any refund when selecting this option. If the recipient of this registration does not register for this race, you may still use this registration on race day.

Cut off time of 2:40min (16 min. miles). If runners fall below 16 minute pace, they may be asked to use the sidewalk and obey all traffic regulations. The finish line will remain open for 3 hours and you will receive a medal when you cross.
No dogs, pets, or strollers allowed in the 10 mile race. Participants must be alert to their surroundings and able to hear medical emergency vehicles, buses, official marathon vehicles and the Mountain Goat bike support team. The course is restricted to registered athletes and official race personnel only. Walkers, animals, skateboards, in-line skates, roller skates, scooters, bicycles and baby joggers/strollers are prohibited. We strongly discourage the use of headphones in both ears for your safety as well as the safety of others.
No, please participate in our Family Pet Walk which we created so that your best friend can participate on race day. It is a half mile long and starts at 9:20am.
Yes, every runner needs a bib in order to receive a time and medal. Bibs must be worn on the outside of all clothing at both the start and finish lines in order for chips to read effectively. Your bib must be visible at all times. Make sure NOT to bend the strips and that all emergency information on the back of the bib is complete. This is critical should you need medical attention on the course.
Results can be viewed live on the Leone Timing and Runsignup website. Please scan the QR code on your bib to go directly there.
Archived Results
Results will be listed in two categories:
Gun Time – time recorded when you cross the finish line; based on the actual gun start time of the race
Chip Time – your personal time from when you crossed the start line timing mat until you cross the finish line
There will NOT be a bag check. Please plan accordingly as unattended bags present a security concern.
Yes, we have six water/Gatorade stations on the course, all highlighted on our map. There will be no energy gels. The streets are filled with bands and supporters for your enjoyment. Be nice to all neighbors, volunteers and fellow runners. We all need to work together in order to continue having this great event.
Every mile will be posted on a sign so look out for the fun!
There will be a clock at the finish line and a clock at the 5-mile relay exchange point. You can leave your smart watch at home!
There is lots of FREE street parking available in downtown Syracuse (all meters are free on Sundays) and several empty parking lots just a few blocks from the start/finish. S. Salina St. and Clinton St. will be blocked off, but look all around the cross streets.
Yes! There will be plenty of portable toilets in Clinton Square on Clinton St and on Erie Blvd. There will also be portable toilets on Stolp Ave, Hunt Ave at Creek Walk (at the Relay Exchange), and in Thornden Park.
You cannot exchange during packet pickup before the race starts. Runners may exchange shirt sizes immediately following the 10M race at the Race Info table where we held packet pick up.
Yes, but the person must show verification – either your confirmation number or a signed letter from you indicating your approval - along with their ID.
We have bikes and communication in place to alert our medical staff on site. We are able to pick up runners who cannot continue and bringing them to the finish line area. This service is only for runners who are stable and will not need medical attention on route. Those that fall under the cut off time may be pushed off the road onto the sidewalks as the course re opens to traffic.

The deadline for online registration is when we reach our cap or when our race starts. Registration is all online, no paper registrations or cash will be accepted. Remember the longer you wait to register, the higher the price increases. So don't delay and register today!
Yes, you can (until 4/18) To edit your size, log into your runsignup account and click Profile, and then My Registered Races. Find the Mountain Goat Run and click Manage Registration. Select the Giveaway Size Edit tab on the left-hand side of the screen, and update your size from the drop-down menu.
ALL finishers will receive a finisher medal. Medal design will be revealed as the race approaches. Overall and Age group awards will be ready for distribution around 11am. If you place in your age group, you may check the Awards tent/table to pick up. Please make sure that you pick up your award on race day. AWARDS WILL NOT BE MAILED.
All swag for the Virtual 10M will be shipped by USA Racing if we have some leftover after the live event is over. There will be no pickup on race day or at our packet pickups for these events.

11:00 AM -- Age Group Award Distribution begins at award tent and on stage
12:00 PM – Course Closes to Participants
The Mountain Goat Run will follow local & federal public health guidelines in place come race day. Please stay tuned to our communications via email and social media for any potential updates. By registering for this event, you agree to abide by the health and safety measures in effect at the time of the event.
NO! To ensure the safety and fairness of all participants, Bicycles, E-bikes (electric bicycles), Scooters (manual or electric), Any other wheeled or motorized devices not authorized by race officials are prohibited. Spectators are encouraged to cheer from designated viewing areas and must not accompany runners on the course using any device.
Knives, guns or anything close (real, hand-made, and/or toy) are banned from all of our events. Failure to do so will result in a permanent ban from our event and you will have to answer to our law enforcement on site.
